Located on Cerro Mirador, just minutes from the city, Club Andino Punta Arenas is one of the most iconic recreational centers in Chile’s far south and one of the few ski resorts in the world with direct views of the sea. From its summit, you’ll enjoy privileged panoramas of the Strait of Magellan, the city of Punta Arenas, Tierra del Fuego Island, the Darwin Range, and Seno Otway—making it a must-visit in both winter and summer.
During the summer season, the venue becomes an ideal setting for nature and adventure tourism. The chairlift remains in operation, providing easy access to viewpoints and trails that wind through coigüe and lenga forests, remnants of historic mining activity, and areas of high biodiversity. At this time of year, it’s also possible to go hiking, enjoy photography walks, and do birdwatching.
In winter, Club Andino becomes the region’s main ski center, with more than a dozen runs of varying difficulty levels, forested trails, and snow with unique characteristics due to the cold and Patagonian winds. Access to the summit is via an approximately 1,200-meter-long chairlift that connects to the slopes and the main panoramic points.
The center also features a cozy café open year-round, offering a varied menu with lunches and afternoon tea (“onces”) in a warm atmosphere with direct views of the slopes and the Strait of Magellan. It’s an ideal place to enjoy with family or friends—or simply to take in one of the most impressive landscapes of southern Patagonia.
