From the historic waters of Punta Arenas begins a unique journey to one of the most remote and captivating regions on the planet: the fjords and channels of Tierra del Fuego. This expedition voyage explores the legendary Strait of Magellan, the Beagle Channel, and the untamed landscapes of the Darwin Range, navigating places that only small, specialized vessels can reach.
Sailing takes place aboard exclusive expedition cruises, designed to access hard-to-reach corners in an intimate yet comfortable setting. With a maximum of around 200 passengers per departure, each ship features panoramic lounges, outside cabins, and spacious common areas—created for an exploration experience without crowds. Expeditions are led by expert guides specializing in geography, glaciology, and the flora and fauna of the far south.
Along the route, it’s possible to see hanging glaciers, ice-carved fjords, sub-Antarctic forests, and an impressive variety of marine wildlife, including sea lions, elephant seals, Peale’s dolphins, albatrosses, and cormorants, as well as some of the largest colonies of Magellanic penguins in the Southern Hemisphere.
One of the most iconic moments of the voyage is the visit to legendary Cape Horn, considered for centuries one of the world’s most challenging sea passages, and to historic Wulaia Bay—an ancestral indigenous site and a key point in early exploration.
The best-known cruises operating this route, such as Ventus Australis and Stella Australis, were specially designed for this kind of expedition navigation.
