The foundation of Estancia Río Penitente dates back to the late 19th century, with the arrival of the Scottish family of Mr. Alexander Morrison and his wife Hellen McCall to the Magallanes region in 1891. They were part of the many European settlers who migrated to the region and helped initiate livestock activity in the area.
The estancia has endured through five generations, and its original facilities are still preserved, including the main house and the shearing shed. As a complement to sheep farming activities, in 1990 we incorporated tourism, which has helped keep the history alive and made it possible to showcase the typical activities of one of the first estancias in Patagonia.
