The King Penguin Natural Reserve, located on the coast of Bahía Inútil in Chilean Tierra del Fuego, is the only place in South America where you can observe king penguins in their natural habitat. This conservation sanctuary is strongly committed to protecting biodiversity, promoting environmental education, and encouraging responsible tourism—offering visitors a unique, respectful, and deeply enriching experience in one of Patagonia’s most remote landscapes.
Visits take place in small groups at scheduled times. Each tour is led by specialized park rangers, who accompany visitors throughout the experience and share information about the species, the Fuegian steppe ecosystem, and the area’s natural history. The guided visit lasts approximately one hour and allows you to observe the colony from designated viewpoints, ensuring the birds’ well-being and a safe experience for visitors.
There are excursions available departing from Punta Arenas.
Season: October to May
