Located 52 km south of Punta Arenas, Parque del Estrecho blends history and nature along the shores of the Strait of Magellan, featuring native forests, coastline, trails, and viewpoints. Key highlights include Fuerte Bulnes (the first permanent Chilean settlement, founded in 1843) and the Puerto del Hambre site, linked to Spanish colonization in the 16th century.Beyond its heritage value, the park offers remarkable natural richness: visitors may spot seabirds, dolphins, and even whales in favorable seasons, along with typical Magellanic forest flora such as lenga, ñirre, and coigüe, as well as calafate and michay. The experience is rounded out with viewpoints toward Dawson Island and Tierra del Fuego, plus the Strait Museum and its café with panoramic views.
